BIOFEEDBACK

MIAMI

We are a biofeedback center located in Kendale Lakes, FL
which offers biofeedback stress reduction and stress relaxation training to clients.

Scope of Practice

As a Certified Biofeedback Technician I am trained to use biofeedback devices to measure Electro Dermal Reactivity (EDR) stress reactions and to teach my clients how to relax and re-educate their muscles, aiming to have them manage their stress and pain.

Biofeedback training is a complement, not a substitute, for medical or psychological treatment, and any ongoing treatment should not be discontinued without advice of your treating physician.

At Biofeedback Miami, we use the EDUCTOR system for:

Stress reduction

Relaxation training

Pain management

Muscle re-education

Brainwave training

What is Stress?

Stress is a biological reaction to physical, emotional, mental, psychological or spiritual stimuli, whereby normal functioning is compromised.

Stress may be caused by a large number of factors. Parasites, bacteria, fungus and viruses, chemical products, body dehydration, fast foods, day to day situations like financial problems, job related matters, personal relations, emotional issues, major life changes, heavy metals (As, Hg, Pb, Al) , poor nutrition, medical conditions, microwave radiation, overworking, pain, prescription drugs, psychological conditions, and the list continues on and on.

It is a response of the body and mind to any demand made upon them which results in symptoms. Rise in blood pressure, release of hormones, breathing changes, tightening of muscles, increased mental and cardiac activity, eating disorders, anxiety are only a few of these symptoms.

What is biofeedback?

Biofeedback is a complementary and alternative medicine technique which enables an individual to learn how to change some physiological activities for the purpose of improving health.

Assist the body and mind

“The body has components of electromagnetic static with frequency patterns that have resonance and self-correcting capacities. By training with electromagnetic signals we can assist the body and mind to learn how to respond differently”. Energy medicine involves training with frequencies of electromagnetic waves. (Source: The Quantum Academies).

Make subtle bodily changes

With biofeedback, the subject is connected to the biofeedback device with sensors to measure and receive information (feedback) about the body (bio). The biofeedback sensors use mild electrical impulses that measure skin temperature known as Electro Dermal Reactivity (EDR), which teaches the individual to make subtle bodily changes, such as relaxing certain muscles, to achieve desired results (e.g. reducing pain). Biofeedback is often used as a relaxation technique.

Improve your body

As referred by the Mayo Clinic, you can benefit from this technique because “in essence, biofeedback gives you the power to use your thoughts to control your body, often to improve a health condition or physical performance”.

Why is biofeedback done?

According to the Mayo Clinic, biofeedback, sometimes called biofeedback training, is used to help manage many physical and mental health issues, including:

Pain

Headache

Fibromyalgia

Chronic pain

Tinnitus (ringing in the ears)

Temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ)

Digestive - Urinary

Constipation

Urinary incontinence

Fecal incontinence

Irritable bowel syndrome

Mental

Anxiety or stress

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)

Organ systems

Asthma

High blood pressure

Raynaud's disease

Stroke

Motion sickness

Chemotherapy side effects

Biofeedback appeals to people

for a variety of reasons:

It's non-invasive

It might reduce or eliminate the need for medications

It might be an alternative to medications for some health conditions

It helps people feel more in control of their health

It can strengthen the mind-body connection

It helps people better manage daily life stress

Frequently Asked Questions

How is a biofeedback session done?

Client’s information is loaded into the computer (full name, date and place of birth). Ideally, the client should take 32 ounces of water over a period of two hours before the session and the session is carried out preferably between meals. First step is to strap up the client with the head and limb harnesses. Then, a calibration is done. This is a handshake between the computer/device and the client aiming to establishing communication. An Electro Dermal Reactivity (EDR) test follows for about 3 minutes during which the EDUCTOR sends electromagnetic frequencies to the client and gets a response from the client’s body. After the test, trainings are done with specific bio-frequencies to achieve stress reduction and stress relaxation on the client. The programs are a compilation of the most effective and enduring types of energetic programs from Europe and Asia, and comprise over 200 training options. The device trains the body to relax, re-educates muscles and reduces stress. The program monitors the client’s response and automatically adjusts the training for maximum benefit and minimal stress.

What components do a biofeedback session have?

Essentially a biofeedback session comprises a relax atmosphere, the Client, the Biofeedback Practitioner, the device (EDUCTOR), a computer, associated software (Eductor 64), a head harness (8 sensors) and a limb harness (2 sensors for the wrists and 2 sensors for the ankles).

How are the test results interpreted?

The client’s body responses obtained during the test are compared against more than 10,700 known trivector signatures of stress related items stored in the computer, and the results are ranked and displayed in a matrix (Excel-type file), from strongest to weakest. In the Matrix one can see items showing reactivities (deviation from expected values) from highest to lowest. Those items with highest reactivity mean on-going, acute issues in the body. Highest ranked values in the Matrix have three standard deviations over the norm (45% over the baseline – red items). Items with two standard deviations over the norm (30% over the baseline) are shown as fuchsia items, and those with one standard deviation over the norm (15% over the baseline) are the yellow ones. On the other extreme, low value items (blue items) are related to chronic conditions prevailing since a long time in the client’s body.

What kind of technology is this?

EDUCTOR utilizes non-invasive last generation technology based on quantum physics principles. It is a computer-operated active bio-energetic device that combines bioresonance and biofeedback fields for body analysis and energy balancing. It is a stress management system that measures electrophysiological reactions and patterns through a ‘harness’ of electro-magnetic electrodes attached to the head, ankles and wrists, which are cataloged, tabulated and fed back to the individual.

The device works on the theory that stress disrupts the inherent electromagnetic frequencies at which the body’s cells, organs, etc. resonate and that by returning these frequencies to their natural state, the stress and any subsequent illness that occurred because of the disruption can be corrected.

Is this technology approved by the FDA?

Only foods and drugs are approved by the FDA (Food & Drugs Administration). Devices are only registered. These devices are registered as Class II medical devices, under the name EPFX (Electro Physiological Frequency Xrroid) since 1989.

What are the benefits of stress reduction and stress relaxation with biofeedback?

It allows to achieve a quicker relaxation state. Facilitates your sleep and helps to achieve a deep relaxation during your sleep. Increases your state of peace and tranquility. Eases emotional handling (e.g., anger) and decreases anxiety. Helps to manage pain. It assists your body to repair itself and maintain your health.
Some people select biofeedback as a form of stress reduction because it is noninvasive and does not rely on medications. Other people may opt for biofeedback in conjunction with more traditional treatment options to improve overall wellness.

Is this biofeedback technique good for everyone?

Biofeedback cannot be applied on clients with pacemakers or clients with extreme electrical allergy. Caution should be exercised on clients who have had electric shock therapy and people who have suffered epileptic seizures are not recommended to take a biofeedback session. Same recommendation applies to pregnant women and children under 3 years of age.
Other than that, biofeedback can be applied to 3-year old people and older, and it is also a very effective technique on animals (dogs, cats, horses) for stress reduction and stress relaxation.

Is there any risk associated to biofeedback?

The Mayo Clinic reports that biofeedback is generally safe. There have been no negative side effects reported.

How long does a biofeedback session last?

A biofeedback session will typically last between 60 and 75 minutes. Actual duration of a session and the number of sessions required depend on the current health of the client.

What does the client feel?

All changes are subtle and most of the time clients do not feel anything. Some of them fall asleep during the session. After the session they feel relaxed and calmed.

How much do I have to pay for a biofeedback session?

A typical session is currently charged at $125. Special arrangements can be made to block a number of sessions for a particular situation the client may have at a reduced fee.

How many sessions do I need?

People’s responses to Biofeedback vary. Our recommendation is to run at least four sessions at a two-day interval to begin with, in order to help your body recover from a particular condition. Later on, a weekly session can be done for a certain period to help your body to take control and maintain a healthy state.
Chronic issues may take longer to allow the body to recover.
